Accept the Challenge!

If you attended worship last Sunday (January 20), listened to the sermon podcast, or watched the service on Facebook LIVE, you heard me challenge everyone to accept the 30 Day Proverb Challenge.

In short, what exactly is the challenge? I’m challenging our congregation to devote ten minutes a day for 30 days spending time with God. Just as Mary was sitting and listening to Jesus in her home, we need to spend time at the feet of Jesus absorbing what he has to say to us.

How do you become part of The Challenge? Well, I know that I need reminders for challenges to be successful. The book of Proverbs is 30 chapters long . . . therefore, it’s easy enough to read a chapter per day. To help remind you, I’ll send out a text message each day that includes what chapter to read and, at times, a challenge for that day. All you have to do is subscribe. It’s simple to enroll in our texting service . . .

1) Text the word Proverbs to (281) 907-9070.
2) You’ll then receive a confirmation text.
3) Expect a text with a passage each morning
(standard text messaging rates apply)
4) Use any translation of the Bible and get after it!

Even if you are late to this whole thing, you can still join. Simply pick up your Bible at get started.

For those that who aren’t early risers, I won’t send them out before the crack of dawn. But, they’ll come early enough in the day for you to be able to spend a few minutes with God.

Breathe Peace,

Marty Signature BROWN

P.S. If you’ve been participating, let me know how you are doing with this challenge. Rather than replying to the text, send me a direct e-mail to mvershel@fumcmc.org.
