Recently, two of our associate pastors have relocated to new ministry opportunities in the Texas Conference. Working with your Staff-Parish Relations Committee, we are pleased to announce new additions to your church staff. Take a moment and meet Rocky Lane, Rev. Barbara Robberson and Lorraine Larrance.
Breathe Peace, Marty
Born in Beeville, Rocky Lane is a native Texan who joins the staff overseeing the FUMCMC facilities and working with Trustees. After graduating from LSU with a degree in accounting, Rocky embarked on a career in restaurant management and ownership. Rocky spent 17 years in the restaurant business which led him into construction as a General Contractor and then into the oil and gas industry as a land man. He also spent a year working for the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) supervising volunteers around the country as they rebuilt Ike-damaged homes. After becoming a member of FUMCMC in 2009, Rocky met his wife Becky in the Sunday Morning Live Sunday School class and they were married in 2014.
Rev. Barbara Robberson returns to the staff of FUMCMC as our part-time pastor in charge of pastoral care. Since her retirement in 2008, Barbara served as intentional interim pastor for fourteen churches in the past seven years. Barbara has trained and served as a chaplain in the Methodist Hospital system. During her years here at Missouri City, her priority was leading the laity in very involved Congregational Care which included everything from hospital visitation to Cancer Care to home visitation and grief groups with the help of many involved and caring laity. Barbara also has a passion for worship and the arts. Many of the paraments, banners and frontals around the church come from Barbara’s hand. In her “spare time” Barbara loves to travel, read, paint, and quilt. She celebrates being the mother of Erik, and his wife, Maria who live in Houston, and Amy, who lives in Anchorage. Most of all, she loves being grandmother to Sophia and Thomas, children of now deceased daughter, Kirsten, who live in Chicago, and Lucy, daughter of Amy, who lives in Anchorage.
Lorraine Larrance becomes our hospitality coordinator. Lorraine has a BS in Nursing as well as a Masters in Healthcare Administration. Throughout the years Lorraine’s healthcare career has included roles in acute care management, provider/practice development, quality improvement initiatives, and health care consulting. But her real passions are helping others, being a part of her community, and her faith in God. Lorraine has three bright and wonderful children, a son Anthony, and twin daughters, Katherine and Angela. Upon the birth of her first granddaughter in 2015, Lorraine retired from her position in Florida to join her daughter Angela, son-in-law Brian, and baby girl Emily here in Missouri City. In 2018 another granddaughter, Lauren, joined her family.
