Crossing the Threshold

In Spring of 1995, First United Methodist Church Missouri City conducted a capital campaign to move from the Present Street campus to begin a new chapter on Lexington Blvd. The financial campaign, Standing at the Threshold, was an amazing step of faith. But because of their willingness to follow God’s leading, First United Methodist Church Missouri City was given new life along with new opportunities to impact the Kingdom of God.

Some 21 years ago, the leadership of First United Methodist Church Missouri City used the imagery of a door opening to the future God had planned for the Church. Thank God they chose to do more than just stand at the threshold. And because they had the vision and courage to actually step through the door God had opened for them, God was able to do extraordinary things in East Fort Bend and beyond!

I believe 2017 is a threshold year for First United Methodist Church Missouri City. Instead of a threshold that is a door that leads to a new location, this threshold is an opportunity to begin the next chapter God is leading us into. And like the saints of yesterday, we have a decision to make. Will we stand at the threshold or will we take that step of faith?

I don’t know about you, but I look forward to Crossing the Threshold and seeing where God is leading us. Crossing the Threshold isn’t an easy thing to do. We have to stand strong, be willing to make sacrifices and take some giant leaps of faith. But this is what I know, we do not have to cross it alone. We are surrounded by a cloud of witnesses that are cheering us on. We are surrounded by those men and women who have found their home with God; men and women who made the decision years ago to do more than just stand at the threshold.

Join us as we begin our 2017 stewardship campaign and this new preaching series. Join me in Crossing the Threshold into the future God has for us . . .

Breathe Peace,
