GUEST POST BY REV. EDDIE HILLIARD
Have you ever thought, “there must be more I can do or how can I make a difference”? Have you ever wanted to be able to give back to your community or to instill an attitude of service in your children? Your church is the place to find all of these answers and more.
MoCity1st is sponsoring the first Mo City1st CARE Day on October 22, 2016. This is a day when hundreds of the members of our church will gather together for fellowship and then leave to serve our community. We will go to over a dozen different sites throughout Ft. Bend County to serve our friends and neighbors. Some examples of what we will do are: building a community garden to provide fresh produce to the students of Armstrong Elementary school, bake cookies for our brave officers of both the Police and Fire Departments, work on improvements to the community prayer garden, a construction project and tasks here on our own campus and many more projects. There will be opportunities to be involved for children, families, youth and adults.
This is a new day in the life of our church. We live and work in a community where not everyone has the same possibilities as we do. It is our honor and duty to do what we can to be leaders in our communities and to offer of our time and talents to make a difference in the lives of others.
For more information, plan to attend our kick off luncheon immediately following worship services on October 2 or reach out to Eddie Hilliard at email@example.com and look for the chance to sign up for one of the exciting projects in the coming weeks to be a part of this community event where we demonstrate our response to the command “Love our neighbor as ourselves.”
NOTE: On October 2, MoCity1st’s two worship services at 10:30 AM will combine in the Sanctuary in celebration of World Communion Sunday and MoCity1st Cares. Our 8:00 AM Chapel Worship service will meet as normal as will Sunday School at 9:15 AM. A meal will follow where you can learn more about MoCity1st Cares.
